Robert J Thomas, Chairman

Joined the Board in 1997, and in August 2007 was elected Chairman.  Rob's career has been in the finance industry associated with the agribusiness sector.
A law and commerce graduate, he spent time at the Wharton School of Management with the University of Pennsylvania.  He has held positions with the Philadelphia National Bank, the Rural Bank of NSW, the State Bank of New South Wales, Executive Director at AIDC.  He serves on the boards of public and private organisations.  Since 1998 he has been a Principal and Director of Origin Capital.

Rob is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and High Court of Australia and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Donald C Seaton, Director

Don Seaton has been associated with the Gardner Smith Group for over 50 years from his employment in the early 1950's.  He became the Managing Director in 1964 and was instrumental in the development of the international trading operations, and in building the storage and oilseed processing businesses.  Don is a true visionary with an unyielding focus on building strong customer relationships, and providing exceptional quality.  Don resigned the Managing Director's position in 1994.  He recently resigned the Chairmanship however he remains a non-executive director.

Christopher C Morkane, B.Sc.,  Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director 

Associated with Gardner Smith since 1974; Chris became Managing Director of Gardner Smith NZ Ltd in 1991 and was appointed the Group Managing Director of Gardner Smith (Holdings) Pty Limited in 1999.  He has over 30 years experience in trading and senior management roles in agricultural commodities, and in the management of bulk liquid portside storage terminals.

Peter J Shearman, Director

Peter commenced with the Company in 1978 as a trader moving on to manage the Australian and New Zealand Vegetable Oils Trading (1986 to 1992). He has held senior management positions throughout the network of companies. Appointed director of Gardner Smith (Holdings) Pty Limited in 1991 and currently General Manager of Gardner Smith Pty Limited.

William Glen McMillan, Finance Director

Glen joined the Group in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed Finance Director in 2002. From a background in international organisations, his skills include strong financial and corporate governance; strategic planning, excellent systems expertise, banking, foreign exchange and treasury.  He has a strong customer focus, balanced with strong business sense.

Thomas J McKeever, Terminals and Processing Director

Tom commenced with Gardner Smith in 1990 as Operations Manager for the storage terminals.  He established the subsidiary Pacific Terminals (Australia) Pty Ltd in 1991 and was appointed its Managing Director.  Appointed Director, Terminals and Processing of Gardner Smith (Holdings) in 1999 he now oversees the Group's oilseed processing and refining operations as well as the storage and processing operations.

Stephen John Morrow, Director

Joined the Board in 2006. 

With a rural background and a degree in Agricultural Economics, Steve Morrow's career has centred around Agribusiness, both in Australia and the USA.  He has held advisory and management positions in the wool, grain, and beef sectors, working for icons such as ConAgra and Golden Circle, and was also General Manager - Agribusiness for SunCorp Metway Bank.

Steve is the Chairman of Brooklyn Park Olives.  His memberships include the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Queensland Grain Industry Development Forum, and the Queensland Dairy Industry Strategy Group, and he regularly addresses industry groups.
David Derrick Scanlan, Director

Joined the Board in 2006. 

David's career spans the Agriculture industry and the fuel industry, and throughout his career he has owned and managed a number of cattle properties.

David graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Accounting.  On leaving university he worked for Price Waterhouse before taking up the position of manager of a large sheep and cattle property.  It was following this time in the country that David returned to Sydney to commence a long lasting career with Castrol.  

His time with Castrol included various senior management positions: Chief Executive Officer New Zealand, Chief Executive/Chairman Burmah Fuels Australia, Chief Executive Castrol Australia and Regional Director Asia Pacific Castrol Commercial.  He has held a number of non-executive directorships and is currently on the Board of Big River Timbers.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
